Days after the Mangaluru auto rickshaw blast that prompted security in the state to get on high alert, Mysuru Police has come out with an advisory for tenants in the city.

According to a new rental policy prepared by the Mysuru Police, the owners will be required to have a clearance certificate from a nearby police station before giving any person the house on rent.

This new policy was rolled out to avert the possibility of a house being used for terror purposes, like it was used by a terror suspect in the Mangaluru blast case, Shariq, who had rented a house in Mysore with the help of fake documents.

With an application fee of Rs 100, a clearance certificate has to be formulated at the police station. There are separate applications for the bachelor, family and paying guest (PG) owners.

The Police Commissioner has issued a notice advising all owners to provide information about their tenants at the station and adhere to the orders strictly.
