Maruti Announced car prices upto Rs 6,100

Maruti Suzuki, India’s biggest car maker has announced a price hike up to Rs 6,100 for its models with effect from today (August 16). The company said that the price hike is on account of an increase in commodity prices, distribution costs and foreign exchanges rates.

Prices of base-metals like steel, aluminium have been on an upward trend since the beginning of this year. However, auto companies have not passed on the impact of commodity price hike fully to its customers.

Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has also said that it will increase prices by up to 4 per cent from next month. In April, other luxury carmakers such as Audi and JLR hiked prices in the range of Rs 1-10 lakh to pass on the increase in customs duties.
