Huge fire has got over the natural-gas producing oil well in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, that has been leaking gas for the last 14 days. the fire began today to spread over the adjoining districts, sources said.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has spoke to Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding this issue and has requested the Air Force and the Army to control the fire.

The National Disaster Response Force has been deployed in the area since the time of the gas leak and top officials of Assam are also reviewing the situation.

The oil well is located in Baghjan Tinsukia, which is located 500 km away from Guwahati, had blowout on May 27 and gas is leaking for past 14 days , which would cause damage to region’s wetlands and biodiversity.
