The 51-year-old Mukesh Kumar became the oldest golfer to win an Asian Tour title in New Delhi on Sunday after bad weather truncated the game with 54 holes.

“I am very proud of myself. I have waited 32 years for this. This means a lot to me. It feels different from the 123 wins that I have had on the domestic Tour before. I have been wanting to achieve this,” said Kumar.

While Kumar will not feature in the season-ending event at the UBS Hong Kong Open this week, all eyes will be on the veteran when he tees up regularly on the Asian Tour next year.

“I’ll play on the Asian Tour next year now that I have won my card. However, I would have to give the Hong Kong Open next week a miss as I won’t be able to get my passport renewed in time,” said Kumar

The scores:

206: Mukesh Kumar (67, 69, 70); 207: Jyoti Randhawa (67, 72, 68), Rashid Khan (67, 72, 68); 208: Mithun Perera (SL) (70, 68, 70); 209: Honey Baisoya (73, 69, 67); 210: Shankar Das (71, 67, 72); 211: Shamim Khan (67, 74, 70), Sanjeev Kumar (71, 69, 71), Kapil Kumar (68, 72, 71) and Khalin Joshi (67, 71, 73).
