A  Free life Insurance cover of Rs.5 lakh will now be extended to around 80,000 handloom and powerloom weavers of telangana .  On August 17  “Nethanna Beema “  scheme would also be launched. All this was announced by Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday. In case of death the amount will be credited into the bank account of a family member within 10 days of death and a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh will be given to the family of the deceased.  Regarding the implementation of the scheme ,the Minister held a review meeting on Monday. To provide financial support to the bereaved families of handloom  and powerloom  weavers “Nethanna Beema “  scheme will be introduced  similar to the “Rythu Beema “  scheme . For the upliftment of weaver’s community in the State , Telangana  government is introducing various schemes.Providing life insurance cover to the weavers , Telangana is the first in the country to do this.

                                                            Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India is partnering with State government for this scheme and designated the state department of handlooms and textiles as the nodal agency for its implementation.   The Insurance premium  amount of the weavers to be paid to LIC of India will be renderd by th government.   State  level  and district level community weavers will be formed. ‘’The government has allocated Rs 50 crore for this scheme, and of this Rs 25 crore has already been released. All weavers below the age of 60 years are eligible for the scheme. Around 80,000 thousand handloom and power loom weavers are beneficiaries under this scheme,” the minister said.   From 2016-2017  telangana government was allocating special funds to the  welfare of backward classes. Rs55.12 crore  has been allocated in the financial year  2022 – 2023. Additionally 400 crore also has been allotted.                                                                           4
