Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik has launched a scathing attack on actor Kangana Ranaut over her controversial ‘freedom was bheekh’ comment and said she seemed to be high on Malana cream (drug) .

Kangana Ranaut landed herself in a massive controversy with her comment stating that India’s Independence in 1947 as ‘bheek’ or alms. She said the country attained actual Independence in 2014 — when the Narendra Modi-led government came to power.

Nawab Malik also said her Padma Shri award should be taken back as she “insulted thousands of freedom fighters with her statement that freedom was obtained in 2014.”

Malik said, “Kangana Ranaut’s Padma Shri should be taken back. She seems to be high on Malana cream.”

As Kangana Ranaut kicked off a firestorm with her comments, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) submitted an application to the Mumbai Police, demanding a case against the Manikarnika actor for “seditious and inflammatory” comments. Also, politicians across the spectrum reacted with outrage at Ranaut’s comments on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, the Congress lashed out at Kangana Ranaut and said her remarks amounted to “treason”. The party also demanded that the government take back the Padma Shri bestowed on her recently for “insulting” the country’s independence movement.
