Cyclone Nisarga has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and got centred at 5.30 am over east-central Arabian Sea about 165 km southwest of Alibag and 215 km south of Mumbai. after that moved on gradually causing landfall on Mumbai, Pune and Thane .

As per the latest India Meteorological Department bulletin, the cyclone, which was expected to move towards Mumbai-Thane-Palghar, has apparently changed its direction to the east and moving towards Pune
Maharashtra minister Balasaheb Thorat has said that threat posed by cyclonic storm ‘Nisarga’ to Mumbai has reduced , but the next few hours will be quite crucial. Thorat said authorities that Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar are on alert considering the trajectory of the cyclone As per the India Meteorological Department, the landfall process started around 12.30pm near Alibaug, 95km from the capital city.
