The AIADMK on Monday expelled 16 members of the party and passed a resolution calling for action against any member who speaks with Sasikala, a close aide of J Jayalalithaa.

Reacting to Monday’s development, Sasikala, who earlier hinted at her return to politics, asked her supporters in the party not to worry. In yet another audio clip released, Sasikala was heard telling her supporters that similar things happened in 1987, 1989.

Speaking to a Gubendran, a cadre, Sasikala said no one could stop her and that she would retrieve the party.

When asked the reason behind “giving up everything to Edapadi K Palanisamy and O Panneerselvam”, Sasikala replied that she gave everything to the cadres and added that she would sort out everything soon.

“Isn’t it our history that the party has been revived with the support of cadres? So don’t worry, everything will be sorted out,” Sasikala said.

The audio clip was released a day after a resolution was passed in a meeting of top AIADMK leaders, seeking disciplinary action and to expel those who speak with Sasikala.

The AIADMK leadership took the decision after hearing VK Sasikala’s audio clip, where she converses with AIADMK cadres, mostly lamenting about the party’s condition, assuring that she will return to politics and retrieve the party.

A joint statement by EPS and OPS stated that Sasikala wants a re-entry into politics after seeing the victory of the AIADMK alliance winning 75 seats with the party winning 66 seats and is doing so to grab the party and get importance in politics.

The resolution put forward by Edappadi K Palanisamy and O Panneerselvam claimed that the party shall never be destroyed for the interests of a family.
