Telangana’s Director of Public Health, G Srinivasa Rao, announced on Friday that Telangana’s Omicron tally has increased to nine.
Three passengers from Kenya, one from Dubai, one Indian national from Abu Dhabi and the UK, one from Sudan and one from the Czech Republic have all tested positive for Omicron. They have all been isolated and are undergoing treatment. One positive passenger travelled back to West Bengal.
However, a Kenyan national, suspected to be infected with Omicron, is untraceable and efforts are on to locate him as quickly as possible.
6764 at-risk passengers who are travelling within the country have been screened at the airport as well. One person from an at-risk country and six from non-at-risk countries have tested positive for the new variant.
Out of the eight cases, six are at Tolichowki and one at Charminar in Hyderabad. The other case is in Hanamakonda, Warangal.
The Director of Public Health also stated that the Covid-19 situation in Telangana is under control. He asserted that the state is fully ready to deal with the possibility of a new wave too.
