The OnePlus 10 Pro has finally launched in India with a starting price of Rs 66,999. The company has kept the price of its flagship phone a little lower than the Samsung Galaxy S22 series to make the deal more appealing. The successor to the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with ultra-fast charging support and boasts of having better image processing capabilities for an improved photography experience. One segment where the OnePlus 10 Pro stands out is its support for 80W wired charging, which even Samsung is not offering with its Rs 1 Lakh Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone. Of course, the latest flagship from OnePlus features Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for improved gaming performance. Here’s how the OnePlus 10 Pro compares against the Samsung Galaxy S22+ device.

OnePlus 10 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S22+: Price in India

The OnePlus 10 Pro price in India starts from Rs 66,999, which is for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The company will also be selling the 8GB RAM + 256Gb storage model, which will cost you Rs 71,999. But, customers can get the new OnePlus 10 Pro at an effective price of Rs 62,499 if they have an SBI bank credit card. There is also an exchange offer of up to Rs 70,000 with an additional exchange bonus of Rs 7,000, which is available on the company’s official site. The device will go on open on April 5.

The Samsung Galaxy S22, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 84,999. This price is for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. On Samsung’s official site, there is an exchange offer of up to Rs 31,000 as well as an additional Rs 8,000 exchange bonus. One will also be able to buy Samsung’s Galaxy Buds at a discounted price of Rs 2,999.

Display, design

You get the best displays on both the flagship devices with brilliant color reproduction and contrast. Though, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a slightly larger screen than the Samsung Galaxy S22+. You get a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel that operates at a higher QHD+ resolution. It supports 120Hz refresh rate as well that can drop down to 1Hz based on the content that is playing on the screen. This will help save battery to a certain extent. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ has a 6.6-inch AMOLED display, but runs at a lower Full HD+ resolution. It also offers support for adaptive refresh rate, which can dynamically change between 10Hz and 120Hz for better power utilization.

Processor, software

The OnePlus 10 Pro and the Galaxy S22+ pack the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset under the hood. So, one will experience similar performance on both devices. Though, you will be getting the same chip at a much lower price with the OnePlus 10 Pro as the Samsung phone will cost you close to Rs 85,000. While the cheaper model, the Galaxy S22, also has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, you still get overall better specs with the 10 Pro. There are dual stereo speakers as well on the 10 Pro that are backed by Dolby Atmos.

In terms of long-term software support, Samsung has an edge over OnePlus. With the flagship Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has promised to deliver up to four years of major Android OS and five years of security updates. This isn’t the case with the OnePlus as the company is still following the standard set for premium phones. The OnePlus 10 Pro will get only three years of Android OS and four years of security updates. Both the phones ship with Android 12 out of the box.

Camera

In terms of optics, the company has just slightly tweaked the camera setup of the OnePlus 9 Pro. You get a triple camera setup at the back of the phone, which lacks the 2-megapixel monochrome sensor that 9 Pro offers. But, this will not make any difference. The OnePlus 10 Pro has the same 48-megapixel main Sony IMX789 camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) support. It is paired with a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL jN1 ultra-wide angle sensor with 150-degree of field of view. The setup also includes an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.3x optical zoom and OIS support. On the front, one will find a new and improved 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 camera for selfies and video calls.

Samsung is offering a triple rear camera setup on the Galaxy S22+, which is the same as the standard S22 variant. It includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 120-degree field of view, a 50-megapixel Dual Pixel autofocus wide-angle sensor, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS support. For selfies, one will find a 10-megapixel sensor on the front.

Battery, fast charging

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the first phone from OnePlus to feature a big 5,000mAh battery. The company has mostly incorporated a 4,500mAh unit in most of its devices. A bigger battery works in favor of OnePlus as Samsung Galaxy S22+ has a smaller 4,500mAh battery under the hood.

The disappointing part for Samsung fans could be that the company is only offering support for 45W fast charging. Though, this is better than the 25W fast charging that Samsung has offered with its previous flagship phones. Those who want their phone to get charged as quickly as possible will likely be impressed by the fact that OnePlus has provided support for 80W fast charging with 10 Pro. It even has support for 50W wireless charging, while the Galaxy S22+ can be wirelessly charged using a 15W charger.

This actually comes down to how much you can spend on a smartphone and which software you prefer because both the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and the OnePlus 10 Pro will offer you a great experience. The OnePlus phone is available for less than Rs 70,000 and you will have to spend more than Rs 80,000 on Samsung’s flagship phone.

If price is not a concern for you, you can decide on the basis of design, software, and features. Those who like to have a phone with a curved panel can consider buying the OnePlus 10 Pro. If you are someone who likes devices with a flat screen, then Galaxy S22+ is the one for you. Both the phones offer a punch-hole display design with minimal bezels. You will be getting the same high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip at a much lower price with the 10 Pro.
