There has been no revision in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country on Monday, December 27, 2021. The state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have maintained stability in fuel rates in the domestic market for almost two months now.

Notably, the government reduced the duty on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and that on diesel by Rs 10 per litre on November 3. Several states and union territories followed suit by cutting local sales tax or value-added tax (VAT) to give much-needed relief to consumers.

Currently, the cost of a litre of petrol in Delhi stands at Rs. 95.41 per litre, whereas diesel is retailing at Rs 86.67 per litre.

In India’s financial hub, Mumbai, petrol is retailing at Rs 109.98 per litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.14 per litre, which is still the highest among the four metro cities.

Fuel rates in other cities:

The prices of petrol and diesel remained unaltered in Chennai and stood at Rs 101.40 and Rs 91.43 per litre, respectively. On the other hand, in Kolkata, petrol continued to retail at Rs 104.67 per litre and diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs 89.79 per litre.

In Bengaluru, a litre of petrol costs Rs 100.58 while a litre of diesel is priced at Rs 85.01. Meanwhile, in Lucknow, petrol and diesel stood at Rs 95.02 and Rs 86.56 per litre, respectively. Petrol can be bought at Rs 107.23 in Bhopal, which is a cut by Rs 6.27, diesel costs Rs 90.87 per litre.

Moreover, any changes in fuel rates are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.
