Petrol and diesel prices remained steady for the 19th consecutive day on Monday, November 22. The fuel prices across key cities were last revised on November 4, when the Centre announced an excise duty cut on fuels, resulting in a sharp decrease in petrol and diesel prices.

The price of petrol in Delhi stands at Rs 103.97 per litre while diesel is at Rs 86.67 per litre, according to the Indian Oil Corporation. Petrol and diesel rates in Mumbai remained unchanged at Rs 109.98 and Rs 94.14 per litre.

In Kolkata, petrol is currently being sold at Rs 104.67 per litre, while diesel is retailing at Rs 89.79 per litre. A litre of petrol is being sold in Chennai at Rs 101.40. The price of diesel remained unchanged at Rs 91.43 a litre.

Fuel rates in other Indian cities:

The rates vary across the states due to value-added tax or VAT. Petrol can be bought at Rs 107.23 in Bhopal, after a cut of Rs 6.27, while diesel costs Rs 90.87 per litre.

In Andaman and Nicobar, petrol is retailing at Rs 82.96 per litre, the cheapest in the country. In Itanagar, petrol costs Rs 92.02 per litre.

In India, petrol and diesel prices depend on various factors like demand for fuel, valuation of INR against USD, consumption ratio of refineries and more. The fuel prices are revised by the oil marketing companies such as Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, and Hindustan Petroleum based on international prices as well.
