There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country on Friday, December 10, 2021. The state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have maintained stability in domestic fuel prices as global crude oil rates continue to fall in the international market.

Notably, there is a sharp decline in crude oil rates on the international market due to the new variant of Coronavirus, Omicron. The price of crude oil is running below $ 70 per barrel.

However, amidst the softening of crude oil prices in the international market, the prices of petrol and diesel at the national level remained stable on December 10, 2021.

According to the Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest fuel retailer, petrol is retailing at Rs 95.41 per litre in Delhi whereas diesel costs Rs 86.67 per litre in the national capital.

In India’s financial hub, Mumbai, petrol is available at Rs 109.98 per litre and people have to shell out Rs 94.14 for one litre of diesel, which is still the highest among four metro cities.

Similarly, in Tamil Nadu’s capital, Chennai, one litre of petrol is being sold at Rs 101.40 and the price of diesel remained unchanged at Rs 91.43 per litre.

On the other hand, in Kolkata, petrol and diesel prices remained constant at Rs 104.67 and Rs 89.79 per litre respectively.

Fuel rates in other Indian cities

The prices of petrol and diesel vary from state to state and also in cities, depending on the incidence of local taxes like value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges. As per the reports, Rajasthan levies the highest VAT in the country, followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

In Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar, petrol is retailing at Rs 112.11 per litre and diesel costs Rs 95.26 per litre.

Apart from this, petrol is retailing at Rs 100.58 per litre in Bangalore and diesel costs Rs 85.01 per litre. Meanwhile, in Patna, the capital of Bihar, the prices of petrol and diesel stood at Rs 105.92 and Rs 91.09 per litre respectively.

In Lucknow, petrol is below the Rs 100 mark and costs Rs 95.28 per litre, whereas diesel is available at Rs 86.80 per litre.
