The state-run oil marketing companies(OMCs) have not revised the prices of petrol and diesel on Wednesday. According to the latest price notification by OMCs, the fuel rates remained unaltered on November 17, 2021, across the country. Meanwhile, crude oil prices also continued to fall in the international market.

According to the Indian Oil Corporation, petrol in Delhi is retailing at Rs 103.97 per litre and diesel is available at Rs 86.67 per litre.

In India’s financial hub, Mumbai, petrol costs Rs 109.98 and diesel is being sold at Rs 94.14 per litre, which is still the highest among all metro cities.

In Tamil Nadu’s capital, Chennai, petrol is available at Rs 101.57 per litre and people have to shell out Rs 91.59 for one litre of diesel. Similarly, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unaltered in Kolkata and stood at Rs 104.67 and Rs 89.79 per litre, respectively.

Rajasthan slashes VAT on petrol by Rs 4, diesel by Rs 5

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 4 per litre and Rs 5 per litre respectively. State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter to announce a reduction in value-added tax (VAT) on fuels. “In the cabinet meeting today, it was unanimously decided to reduce the rate of VAT on petrol and diesel. After this, the rates will be reduced by Rs 4 per litre in petrol and Rs 5 per litre in diesel from 12 o’clock tonight,” the tweet read.

Notably, the new prices came into effect from Tuesday midnight, providing relief to consumers from all-time high fuel rates.

It may be noted that currently, petrol and diesel cost Rs 111.10 and Rs 95.71 per litre, respectively in Rajasthan.

Crude oil prices fall in the international market

Crude oil prices continue to fall in the international market. The price of Brent crude has fallen by 9 cents or 0.1 percent to $ 81.96 per barrel. Meanwhile, WTI crude has also slipped 10 cents or 0.1 percent, to $ 80.78 per barrel.
