There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country on Saturday, December 4, 2021. The state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have maintained stability in fuel rates in the domestic market for almost a month now.

According to the Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest fuel retailer, the cost of one litre of petrol in Delhi stands at Rs. 95.41 per litre, whereas diesel is retailing at Rs 86.67 per litre.

On the other hand, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across other key cities. With the fuel rates being constant in India’s financial hub, Mumbai, petrol is retailing at Rs 109.98 per litre and people have to shell out Rs 94.14 for one litre of diesel, which is still the highest among four metro cities.

Similarly, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unaltered in Chennai and stood at Rs 101.40 and Rs 91.43 per litre, respectively.

On the other hand, in Kolkata, petrol costs Rs 104.67 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 89.79 per litre.

Fuel prices cheapest in Delhi

The prices of petrol alone were last revised in the national capital on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, when the Delhi government announced a sharp reduction in value added tax (VAT) levied on petrol, making it cheaper by Rs 8.

After the fresh cuts, petrol and diesel have now become cheaper in Delhi in comparison to Noida, where petrol costs Rs 95.51 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 87.01 per litre.

In addition to this, falling by Rs 8 from Rs 103.97, petrol has now become the cheapest in Delhi among all the four metro cities and costs Rs 95.41 per litre. Meanwhile, diesel in the national capital has remained unchanged for almost a month at Rs 86.67 per litre, which is again the cheapest in all the four metro cities.

Petrol, diesel prices likely to fall further

Crude oil prices have fallen sharply in the international market. Experts believe that if the international crude oil prices continue to remain at a lower level, then petrol and diesel may fall further further in the domestic market as well.

It may be noted that the price of Brent crude has come down to $ 72 per barrel.
