Prabhudeva and Regina Cassandra are starring in the upcoming film Flashback, directed by Don Sandy. Says the director, “This is a coming-of-age film. Generally, such films in our industry have only talked about love, but this one addresses the attraction youngsters begin to develop towards the opposite sex. After Balu Mahendra’s Azhiyatha Kolangal (1979), I guess this is going to be the first film to talk about the aspect of lust.”

Though the film talks about infatuation with an older woman, the filmmaker reassures that the film will not be obscene. “We have treated this subject in a dignified manner. Just like 96, Autograph and Premam, audiences will find this to be a trip down memory lane of their growing-up years,” he adds.

Prabhudeva plays a writer in the film. “This role is something he hasn’t done yet. Even Prabhudeva sir was surprised that I wanted him for such a role. He is someone who has donned the hats of an actor, choreographer and director, so I felt that he would be apt for such a role,” says the director.

Regina will be seen as a teacher in the film, which is set in Kodaikanal and Chennai. Tollywood actress Anasuya Bharadwaj of Rangasthalam fame will be making her debut in Kollywood. “We are also releasing the film in Telugu as well, so we have gone with a set of actors who are familiar to both Tamil and Telugu audiences,” informs Don Sandy.

Sam CS is composing the music for this film, which has cinematography by Yuva of Teddy fame and editing by San Lokesh.
