On Wednesday  Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy  held a meeting to discuss  the preparatory steps taken in view of the cyclonic storm Mandous.  Heavy rainfall is expected due to cyclonic storm Mandous in Puducherry and Karaikal . The exigencies plan has been reviewed. On Thursday due to the influence of Maldives, a heavy rainfall has been given to Puducherry and Karaikal regions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) . Chief Minister said this to reporters from his cabin. In Karaikal to meet the rain exigencies National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel had arrived . Instructions are given to all departments to take preventive steps in regard to any exigency. In Collectorates , control rooms have been opened. Around  238 relief centres were opened and 75,000 food packets will be distributed. If required people living in low lying areas will be moved to safer places. Chief Minister along with his added marriage halls should be utilised for people’s accommodation. Relief measures should be available without any hassle. Necessary equipment has been provided to the workers for the rescue purpose. Head of the various departments like  police, fire service, local administration, electricity and PWD turned up for  the meeting. As a precautionary step some schools are not working on Thursday.
