Realme recently announced it will finally enter the ultra-premium phone segment with at least one phone for around Rs 60,000. While I am not sure what phone this would be, Realme also seemingly has eyes on the foldable market. Madhav Sheth, Realme’s vice president, passed off the question on the company’s foldable earlier this year, but the company’s design studio members seem enthusiastic about a Realme foldable, and now they have shared some concept sketches of what they call the Realme GT Fold 2.

A foldable phone in the lineup could be the ultimate premium phone for Realme that has its eyes set on the highest-end market. Although the company is not talking about its plans for a foldable phone yet, members of the Realme Design Studio have gone ahead to share what it may look like and what it may be known as. Dubbed Realme GT Fold 2, the foldable phone could bring a radical change in the current design language. That includes a full-fledged cover display with a punch-hole, unlike the shrunk displays that you find on covers of foldables such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.

Tipster Ice Universe shared the concept drawings, giving some gravitas to the possibility that Realme’s first foldable will look like this. The images show there will be a 6.5-inch AMOLED display on the phone’s cover and it could have a punch-hole cutout. The foldable would open from the inside, revealing an 8-inch AMOLED display that, too, has a punch-hole cutout with a camera inside it. This means that the device would look like a conventional smartphone – although a bit taller – when folded. On the bottom, the phone could have a USB-C port, while on the back, there could be a combination of two 50-megapixel cameras, along with an LED flash.

There is no information about the processor, battery, and other features of the Realme GT Fold 2. I am not even sure if this is what Realme would call its foldable device. But, for what it is worth, Realme is very capable of foraying into the foldable category, since people have some interest in them. Realme’s rival Xiaomi already has a foldable phone that it sells in China, while its parent company, Oppo, is reportedly launching its first foldable device sometime towards the end of November or next month. Samsung already has a portfolio of foldable phones wide enough to increase their popularity and now other brands are jumping on the bandwagon.

Realme’s foldable, GT Fold 2 could undercut the major foldable devices on the market with a price tag of $1,200, according to the tipster. That translates to roughly Rs 89,000, which is an aggressive price compared to the launch prices of Rs 1,49,999 and Rs 1,09,000 for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Motorola Moto Razr 5G, respectively.
