Redmi will host a major event in its home country China on October 28. The budget-product division of Xiaomi will launch its much-awaited Redmi Note 11 series on the day. Alongside, it will introduce the latest edition of the Redmi Watch as the Redmi Watch 2. In the build-up to the launch event, we now have more details about the smartwatch.

In recent teaser posters, Xiaomi has confirmed some of the specifications that we can expect to see on the Redmi Watch 2. As per these, the new Redmi smartwatch will come with some upgrades to the display, as compared to its previous generation. The highlight among these upgrades will be an AMOLED display on the Redmi Watch 2.

The AMOLED display will be the most substantial upgrade to the Redmi Watch 2. In contrast, the Redmi Watch that debuted in India earlier this year featured a TFT LCD display. The display this time will also be larger than before. While the Redmi Watch came with a 1.4-inch screen, the Redmi Watch 2 will feature a 1.6-inch AMOLED display.

The increase in screen size will be made possible through a larger screen to body ratio than before, thanks to a narrower bezel area. The specifications have been confirmed in a recent post by the official Redmi account on Weibo. In addition to the information on the smartwatch’s display, the teaser also confirms a new pink strap option on the Redmi Watch 2.

An earlier teaser, that confirmed the launch date of the smartwatch, showed the Redmi Watch 2 with a black strap option. So we know that these two colours will be available for the Redmi Watch 2 strap. We also have a hint of the design to be featured on the smartwatch through these teaser posters. Redmi Watch 2 will apparently sport a flat, square-shaped display with curved edges. On the right, there will be an elongated button for several functions.

No more information is yet available on the Redmi smartwatch, though we can expect to see more teasers from Xiaomi in the buildup to the launch. Tipster Digital Chat Station has hinted at the colours to be available on the device when on sale and, as per the speculation, we can expect to see the Redmi Watch 2 in three colour options beige, blue and black.
