Shanghai was co-written, co-produced and directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The film was the remake of 1969 French movie Z, which was based on the Greek novel Z by Vassilis Vassilikos. The film revolves around the story of a group of people who embark on a journey to unravel the mystery behind a social activist’s death. The government claims it to be an accident but this group knows better. They struggle hard to unveil the truth.
