Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K Sudhakaran has warned party’s Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor over his refusal to sign a letter to the central government. Sudhakaran said if Shashi Tharoor did not abide by party decisions, he “will be out” of the Congress.

Sudhakaran said, “Shashi Tharoor is like any other member of the Congress party. Everyone has their own opinion. If he abides by the party rules he will be in the party, otherwise, he will be out. Whether it is Shashi Tharoor or K Sudhakaran, a person who is party MP doesn’t get to dismiss party decisions.”

Sudhakaran’s warning came during his interaction with journalists in Kerala’s Kannur. This comes after Shashi Tharoor refused to sign a letter by the United Democratic Front (UDF) MPs to the central government to protest semi-high speed rail corridor project called the Silver Line Project of the Kerala government.

He responded with a post on Twitter saying that in some issues it was important to put aside political differences. Shashi Tharoor said he would share his opinion on the Silver Line Project after studying it.

Shashi Tharoor had earlier praised Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his “investment-friendly” initiatives. This caused discontent within the Kerala Congress.
