Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani launched the trailer of their upcoming film, Shershaah, on July 25, ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas at Kargil. The trailer launch event was also attended by producer Karan Johar and director Vishnu Varadhan. Sidharth Malhotra is essaying the role of Captain Vikram Batra in the war drama, whereas Kiara is portraying the role of his fiancee, Dimple Cheema.

TRAILER LAUNCH OF SHERSHAAH AT KARGIL

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani were spotted at Kalina airport, Mumbai on July 25. They were heading to Kargil for the special trailer launch of their upcoming film Shershaah. The event was attended by producer Karan Johar, director Vishnu Varadhan and several officers of the Indian Armed Forces, such as General Y K Joshi, General Officer Commanding-In Chief, Northern Command and Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat. The trailer launch of Shershaah took place ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 25.

In the several photos from the trailer launch, Kiara Advani looked her ethnic best in an off-white saree. Sidharth Malhotra was dressed to impress in an all-black suit. Karan Johar looked spectacular in his classy black suit, whereas Vishnu Varadhan was dressed formally for the occasion.

In the trailer, Sidharth Malhotra is seen in the power-packed role of Paramvir Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra (PVC), while Kiara is seen essaying the character of his fiancee, Dimple Cheema. The trailer begins with Sidharth reporting as Captain Vikram Batra and then shows various glimpses of his life.

ABOUT SHERSHAAH

Shershaah was earlier scheduled to release in theatres, but will now be released on Amazon Prime Video. The film is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who died while rescuing a fellow officer. Vikram Batra of 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles had fought in the Kargil War in June 1999 in the Dras sub-sector and was instrumental in the capture of Point 5140.

He laid down his life during the operation of Point 4875, bravely rushing forward to rescue Lieutenant Naveen, a subaltern under him. On August 15, 1999, his father received Captain Batra’s Param Vir Chakra Award posthumously.

Kiara Advani plays the role of his fiancee, Dimple Cheema. After his death, Dimple never got married and lived as his widow. Apart from Sidharth and Kiara, the film also stars Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar and Pawan Chopra. The film will premiere across 240 countries and territories on August 12, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
