A Sikh couple from Punjab was shot to death by an unidentified assailant in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on Saturday (March 25).

According to media reports, Sukhwinder Singh (41) and his wife Kirandeep Kaur (33) were found gunned down in their home. Both hailed from Goraya in Punjab’s Jalandhar district.

CCTV footage showed an unidentified man entering the deceased couple’s house soon after Sukhwinder returned from work on Saturday night. The assailant can be seen firing multiple gunshots at Sukhwinder, before firing two shots at Kirandeep. Both died on the spot.

Sukhwinder settled in the Philippines 19 years ago and ran a finance business. He married Kirandeep three years ago and she moved to Manila five months back.

Lakhvir Singh, Sukhwinder’s elder brother, told reporters, “We were calling him repeatedly since Sunday, but he was not responding. I asked my uncle to visit his place, where he found my brother and his wife lying in a pool of blood.”
