Sri Lanka Parliament election date announced

Colombo: Sri Lanka Parliament election has been dissolved by President Sirisena. It will be announced on January 5 to the Parliament election of Sri Lanka.

Prior to Ranil Wickramasinghe, Sri Lankan President Sirisena dissolved Parliament before proving the majority of Mahinda Rajapaksa to be the new prime minister. President Sirisena has taken this decision as he does not have MPs in the 225-member Sri Lankan parliament to prove the majority of the Rajya Sabha

The nomination for the parliamentary election begins on March 19. It can be filed till November 26. A meeting of the new parliamentarians will be held on January 17
