Benchmark stock market indices Sensex and Nifty opened on a positive note on Tuesday after information technology shares got a boost from Tech Mahindra’s strong earnings.

S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 61,176 after rising over 200 points at 10:30 am, while the NSE Nifty 50 was up nearly 84 points or 0.46 per cent at 18,209.

Some of the stocks that are in the news today or expected to create a buzz are Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, SBI, HDFC Asset Management Company, HDFC Bank, RSPG Ventures and more.

TECH MAHINDRA

Tech Mahindra has already created a buzz after it reported strong second quarter results a day ago.

The company reported a net profit of Rs 1,339 crore in Q2FY22. The company’s revenue rose to 10,881.3 crore from Rs 10,197.6 crore on a sequential basis. Tech Mahindra shares surged to a new high and were up nearly 7 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at 10:35 am.

CEAT

Tyre maker Ceat fell on the stock exchanges after the company’s Q2FY22 net profit plunged nearly 77 per cent to Rs 42 crore against Rs 181.9 crore in Q2FY21.

The company’s revenue increased to 23.9 per cent at Rs 2,451.8 crore from Rs 1,978.5 crore during the same period.

BHARTI AIRTEL

Bharti Airtel’s stock is likely to be in focus today as the company deferred the payment of spectrum auction instalments for up to four years as part of the moratorium. Vodafone Idea had earlier opted for the moratorium.

The telecom company said in a stock filing that it would opt for the option under the relief package announced by the government earlier.

Bharti Airtel shares were trading more or less flat on the stock exchanges at the time of publication. However, the decision could create a buzz later during the trading session.

HDFC AMC

Mutual fund player HDFC Asset Management Company’s stock could also create some buzz as its Q2FY22 net profit was up nearly 2 per cent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis at Rs 344.38 crore from Rs 338.06 crore. Revenue has increased 18.9 per cent to Rs 542.33 crore from Rs 456.25 crore.

HDFC AMC shares were trading over 2 per cent lower at Rs 2,711.50 on the BSE at 10:55 am.

HDFC BANK

It may be noted that the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved HDFC’s acquisition of 4.99 per cent outstanding equity share capital of HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company. The decision may lead to some price movement in HDFC Bank’s stock. HDFC Bank shares were trading flat at the time of publication.

SRF

Chemical manufacturer SRF’s stock was trading 1 per cent lower on the BSE at 11 am. The company has reported a 21 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 382.45 crore in Q2FY22.

INDUS TOWERS

Telecom infrastructure firm Indus Towers has posted a 38 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to roughly Rs 1,559 crore in Q2FY22. The revenue of the company also grew over 8 per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 6,876.5 crore.

Shares of Indus Towers were trading 2.53 per cent lower on the BSE at 11:05 am at Rs 281.35 apiece.

Some of the other stocks to watch out for today are Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, Canara Bank and Ambuja Cements as they will announce their second quarter results today.
