Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who plays for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL, in a recent Instagram live session, he spoke about his love for Chennai. He also expressed his interest to see some south actors to to play the lead role in his biopic. 

In a recent live interaction, Raina was asked to name an actor whom he would want to see play the lead role in his biopic if it is made in the future. Raina’s first choice was Suriya and he also added Dulquer Salmaan’s name as an other option.

Talking about it, he said, “I want someone from the South to do it. Someone who can understand how Chennai belongs to me and what CSK means to me. I have some two-three names. My favourite is Suriya, of course. He can definitely do it. Dulquer Salmaan is another choice. He is really good at acting and I’ve seen quite a few of his movies.”

The clipping of Raina talking about this has gone viral among fans and it has garnered good attention on social media. Suriya and Suresh Raina share a great rapport and have expressed mutual respect for each other at several public events.

Raina had also expressed his love and admiration for Suriya, when Suriya was doing a live interaction with the fans during the release of his film NGK. Suresh Raina made a special appearance in the video and asked Suriya who is his favourite cricketer from the IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and why. Suriya had thanked the star cricketer for taking time out to come for the interaction and also revealed that MS Dhoni as hif favourite cricketer, as he met him first and then met Suresh Raina.

In September 2020, Suresh Raina’s uncle was brutally murdered in Pathankot in Punjab. He did not play for Chennai Super Kings that year and missed the entire IPL season.

Tamil actor Suriya had extended his support to Suresh Raina and offered his condolences. He wrote, “My deepest condolences dear @ImRaina we all shoulder your grief! Let the heartless criminals be summoned to justice!! My prayers for strength and peace (sic).”

On the work front, Suriya’s 40th film (Tamil) is being bankrolled under Sun Pictures Kalanidhi Maaran and it is directed by Pasanga Pandiraj. The film’s shooting is expected to resume soon as the second wave of COVID-19 had paused the shoot.
