Parts of Telangana experienced intense winter chill as temperatures dipped to single digits on Monday. Aliabad recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degree Celsius.

The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) said the minimum temperature hit single digits in nine out of the 33 districts in 24 hours up to 8.30 am on Monday.

The remaining districts recorded temperatures between 10 degree Celsius and 13.9 degree Celsius. The TSDPS has issued an alert for almost all the districts for the next three days. It said the minimum temperature is likely to be between 4 degree Celsius and 10 degree Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the chilling weather to the cold winds blowing from the north-east. The night temperature is expected to be 2-4 degree Celsius lower than normal for the next three days.

The IMD forecasted that mist and haze would likely prevail in the morning. The minimum temperature in the outskirts of Hyderabad continues to be 4-5 degree Celsius lower compared to core city areas. This is likely because of large open areas and many trees.
