South Indian actress and her friend were arrested by Santacruz Police on Sunday. She was arrested for allegedly consuming ‘charas rolled in a cigarette’. The arrest took place in the wee hours of the morning. The actress was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

According to the IPC, the NDPS act prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance. The actress was booked for the charges of consumption. 

As a report in Etimes, the Police alleged that the actress was celebrating her birthday at the JW Marriott hotel, located in Juhu. After the party, she and her friend went to their suite and they reportedly had one gram of charas on them. The police sprung into action after they received a tip-off about alleged drug consumption. The information was shared by Dnyaneshwar Ganore, senior inspector of Santacruz police station. 

“The room was raided at 3 am and we found the duo in possession of one gram of Charas, rolled into cigarettes,” said the Police.

The two were nabbed by the police and were sent for a medical test that confirmed that they have consumed banned drugs during the party. Later, the two were produced before a local magistrate court and granted bail.

The actress in question has not confirmed the news or shared any statement on the subject.
