Soon after Sayoni Ghosh’s arrest, Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Dev alleged that Ghosh came under attack at the Agartala police station. She alleged that BJP workers pelted stones at Agartala police station where Ghosh is under arrest.

Derek O’Brien alleged in a tweet that even media personnel had been attacked.

“Brutal attacks on @AITCofficial. Even members of media clobbered in Tripura. Unprecedented attacks. Arrests on trumped-up charges. 16 Trinamool MPs have reached Delhi. Sir, please do give us an appointment this morning. Patiently waiting,” he tweeted.

TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was slated to visit Tripura on Sunday, but was denied permission to land. While TMC claimed this was a deliberate move, sources said that mo flight is allowed to land at night at the Agartala airport.

Several TMC MPs will sit on dharna in Delhi on Monday, protesting the alleged attacks. They have also sought an appointment from Amit Shah to discuss what they are calling “Tripura brutality”.

In the wake of ‘escalating tension’ in the city, the Tripura Police has said neither the BJP nor the TMC will be allowed to hold rallies or roadshows in Agartala on Monday. “Permission for street corner meets granted to both. TMC hasn’t intimated to us the time when they’re going to organise the street corner meet,” sub-divisional officer Ramesh Yadav said.
