Tamil Nadu Government has revoked its earlier order and decided not to hold entrance examinations for admission to Class 11 in the state. Instead, the government would increase the number of seats by 10 – 15 per cent in the government and government aided schools. Also, in case of very high number of applications, the schools can make a decision on the basis of Class 9 marks.

Admission process for TN HSC+1 or Class 11 would begin in the third week of June, as per the conditions prevailing in the state. Exact scheduled would be shared by TN DGE in due course of time.

On Thursday, the government had allowed the schools to conduct entrance test for admission to Class 11 as Class 10 exams or TN SSLC Exams 2021 were cancelled earlier due to COVID. The mode was to be followed by schools for the streams they receive most application for.

Following the announcement, Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister and AIADMK Coordinator O. Panneerselvam asked the government to reconsider.  Panneerselvam also said that the government had asked for cancellation of NEET but was asking for exams for Class 11.
