Atharvaa Murali’s upcoming film’s teaser has been released by popular Kollywood director A.R. Murugadoss via his official Twitter handle. Titled Address, the film will have actor Esakki Bharath playing the lead role. The teaser has the voice-over of director-turned-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon.

The second half of the first quarter of the 21st century has laid a platform for emerging filmmakers who come up with content that speak the voice of the common people. The trend began in the late ’50s and continued until the Dravidian movement conquered the throne in Tamil Nadu.

However, the early 70s marked the arrival of aesthetic cinema in Kollywood, thus saturating political cinema. The intermediate period provided Tamil people with films that are devoid of modern social crisis. The arrival of filmmakers such as Pa Ranjith, Mari Selvaraj and Vetri Maaran created a new wave in Tamil cinema.

The new wave revived the strong political cinema culture with various perspectives addressing the contemporary issues of Tamil-speaking people.  The teaser of Address, directed by Raja Mohan, follows the legacy of the new wave cinema.

The 1 minute 14 seconds teaser is packed with action and rage dominated by Atharvaa Murali. We learn that Atharvaa plays the extended cameo in the film, as revealed in the title of the teaser and it is based on true events.

The teaser hints at protecting the identity of people who are living in the particular landscape of Tamil Nadu. Gautham Menon’s voice-over has enhanced the intensity of the tone intended by the makers.

The film Address has been produced by Cocktail cinemas in association with A&P Groups with Girrish Gopalakrishnan composing the music for the film.  Gautham’s voice-over reflects the rage of an oppressed common man who struggles hard to save his land.

For those unaware, Gautham Menon had previously worked with Atharvaa Murali for a music album Bodhai Kodhai. The romantic album features Atharvaa and Aishwarya Rajesh and produced by Gautham’s Ondraaga Entertainment.

Atharvaa was previously seen in the cop film 100 (2019) directed by Sam Anton. The film became a super-hit at the box office. Hansika Motwani paired up with Atharvaa in the film that starred Radha Ravi and Yogi Babu in supporting roles.

The Baanaa Kathaadi actor has many films in his pipeline at various stages of production. It includes Thalli Pogathey, Kuruthi Attam, Othaikku Othhai and Rukumani Vandi Oduthu.
