The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) busted a fake arms licence racket and arrested six people from Burdwan and North 24 Parganas. Around 36 fake seals of different officials of West Bengal and other states, five fake arms licences and five arms and ammunition were recovered from the accused.

As per CID sources, acting on a tip-off, the CID’s Special Operation Group on Friday night arrested six persons from different places in Burdwan and North 24 Parganas.

A case has been registered at Memari Police Station under Sections 419/468/471/472/ 473/120B of the IPC and 25(i)(8) of the Arms Act.

The CID team recovered 36 fake seals of different officials of West Bengal and other states from the house of prime accused Safik Molla of village Harindanga, Memari, Purba Burdwan. Five fake arms licences and five arms and some ammunition were recovered from the accused.

Investigation revealed that Safik Molla and his associates forged fake documents and based on that fake licence holders procured arms and ammunition. The accused were engaged in various security agencies as guards in and around Kolkata.
