WhatsApp could soon roll out minor UI changes to the Android app. It is currently working on removing the line separators from the home page on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is likely to introduce some design changes for the Android app. The messaging app is testing some design changes for the Android app in the beta version according to WaBetaInfo, the features tracker. The report noted that WhatsApp’s changes are reflected in the chat list of the app. The report notes that the change will not be a major design overhaul for the WhatsApp app but a small UI change for the messaging platform.

WhatsApp’s updated design will not show separator lines between chat cells on its chat list. This means when beta users open WhatsApp, the first page on the app which shows your latest chats with contacts and groups will not have the separator lines between contact names. WhatsApp is rolling out the change for beta users and will be available for users with WhatsApp web releases or stable versions from Google Play Store. According to the report, the feature is expected to roll out for Android users soon.

WhatsApp Beta update 2.21.12.12 for Android OS also featured new colours in notifications. This feature showed changes in the notification shades. It turned to blue from the original green in dark mode. The report earlier noted that changes are likely to appear for users in light mode but may not appear for all beta users. Now, according to the latest report, WhatsApp has restored the green colour for push notifications after complaints from users. The users who received this update reportedly had visibility issues and complained that the new color was not correctly visible in the notification, because of its contrast.

WhatsApp is also said to be working on the flash call feature in the update v2.21.21.7. The Flash call feature lets users log in to their accounts quickly. As per the current method, whenever a user tries to log in to his WhatsApp account, he is required to enter a six-digit code. But if WhatsApp rolls out the flash calls feature, you would not have to go through the tedious process of waiting for OTP and then enter the six-digit code. However, the process when it rolls out if it rolls out widely will be exclusive to Android users and not iPhones as Apple does not offer any public API to read the call history.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp started rolling out voice calling features for the JioPhone and other KaiOS-based feature phones. The feature phone users will now be able to make voice calls on WhatsApp as the company has enabled WhatsApp VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) for KaiOS-enabled devices worldwide.
