Apolice bus in Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar came under a terrorist attack, and three police personnel lost their lives. The incident took place on the 20th anniversary of the Parliament Attack. As the nation grieves the sudden demise of the police personnel, India Today accessed exclusive images of the bus which was fired upon by the terrorists.

Several personnel of the ninth battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were evacuated to various hospitals.

Three cops, ASI Ghulam Hassan and Constables Shafeeq Ali and Rameez Baba, died of injuries sustained in the attack, while 11 others were undergoing treatment.

Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said attack on a police bus here that claimed the lives of three cops was pre-planned as the armed police team was returning to camp at same time it usually did after performing routine duties.

Kumar said the terrorists took advantage of darkness as the road leading to the police camp at Zewan was not well lit and the road opening party of security forces had left for the day. Little known outfit Kashmir Tigers, believed to be the front of Jaish-e-Mohammad, carried out the attack on the police bus at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Monday.
