The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100-crore milestone today.

Congratulating the citizens of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the development as a “triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians.”

“Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this feat,” he said in a tweet.

Home Minister Amit Shah thanked all the scientists, researchers and health workers who contributed to this ‘Mahayagya’ by overcoming many challenges.

Congratulating PM Modi, Shah said that he is determined for the safety and health of every person.

“India’s achievement of 100 crore COVID19 vaccinations under PM Modi’s leadership has re-acquainted the world with the immense potential of New India,” he added.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attributed the achievement to the PM.

“Congratulations India! This is the result of the able leadership of visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi. #VaccineCentury,” Mandaviya tweeted in Hindi.

Mandaviya will launch also a song and audio-visual film to celebrate the milestone of 100 crore COVID-19 vaccinations today at Red Fort at 12.30 am.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination drive was launched on January 16, 2021.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that railways employees also played an important role in achieving this milestone.

“We’ve to make sure the people receive full vaccination. Appeal people to shun vaccine hesitancy,” he added.

Union Minister for Culture, Tourism G Kishan Reddy lauded the scientists, healthcare professionals calling it an “incredible feat”.

“The sheer hard work and undeterred perseverance of our scientists, healthcare professionals has resulted in administering “A Billion Doses!” This profound exercise is a victory for the whole world to cherish,” he said in a tweet.

Dr VK Paul, Member, Health, NITI Aayog called the historic feat an achievement in just over 9 months since the vaccination program started in India.

“Congratulations to the people and healthcare workers of India. It’s remarkable to reach 1 billion dose mark for any nation,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here as the cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100-crore milestone.

Modi interacted with hospital officials and was accompanied by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor termed the achievement “a matter of pride for all Indians.”

He further said that after severe mismanagement of the second wave and botching the vaccination orders that might have prevented it, the Union government has now partly redeemed itself.

It remains accountable for its earlier failures, he added.
