Former US President Donald Trump has claimed he could negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict if he was still in the White House.
“If I were President, the Russia-Ukraine war would not have happened. Never in a million years,” he said in a policy video posted on spokesperson Liz Harrington’s Twitter.
“I’d be able to negotiate an end to this horrible and rapidly escalating war within 24 hours,” he said.
Claiming that he could negotiate an end to the conflict, Trump took a swipe at Joe Biden’s decision to send American-made Abrams tanks to Ukraine, suggesting this would be regarded as a provocation by the Kremlin.
“First come the tanks, then come the nukes. Get this crazy war ended now. It can be done,” the former President said.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has now entered its 12th month and the loss of life and infrastructure in Ukraine has been immense.
The US has pledged to send 31 battle tanks to Ukraine, joining Germany in sending the vehicles to support the fight against Russia’s invasion.
