Zoom said that the feature has been rolled out to all users to help people with disabilities. “ It’s important to us that everyone can successfully connect, communicate, and participate using Zoom. Without the proper accessibility tools, people with disabilities face tremendous barriers when using video communication solutions. That’s why we are focused on building out a platform that is accessible to everyone, and features such as auto-generated captions are an important part of that mission,” the blog noted.

The live transcription feature is one of the most important features available on the Zoom video conferencing feature because you can read on the screen whatever is being said during the meeting. Auto-generated captions automatically provide speaker subtitles on a Zoom video meeting or webinar.

Here is how you can enable live transcription on your Zoom account

—Sign in to your Zoom account or Zoom web portal and tap on edit account settings.

—In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings

— Click the Meeting tab.

—Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Closed captioning toggle to enable or disable it.

—If a verification dialogue displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.

The participants can ask the meeting host to enable live transcription during the session using the meeting toolbar. Zoom also supports manual captioning as well as integration with third-party captioning services. It is important to note that auto-generation is currently available in English. Zoom says that it plans to expand them to other languages in the future.

Apart from the live transcription feature, Zoom has other accessibility feature which includes keyboard accessibility, pinning or spotlighting interpreter video, screen reader support, and voicemail transcription.

Zoom is also working to set up meeting spaces of all sizes. Zoom will also set up Zoom Rooms Smart Gallery, which is available in public beta for now. The company said that it is creating Smart Gallery to enable remote workers to be represented equally on the screen with other participants, creating a more inclusive meeting experience for everyone.
