Amid the spate of targeted killings of migrant labourers in the Kashmir valley, top officers of the CRPF, NIA and Indian Army are camping in the region to monitor all intel inputs.

Home ministry sources have said the CRPF DG and NIA DG Kuldeep Singh is currently stationed in the Kashmir valley. Also, senior officers of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Indian Army and CRPF are camping there to monitor the developing situation.

The sources have said that the targeting of non-locals in the Kashmir valley is a sign of “desperation” among the over the ongoing crackdown operations. The sources have also said that the Ministry of Home Affairs is constantly monitoring the situation.

Terror outfits have never targeted the migrant labourers, outsiders or tourists from the states in the Kashmir valley. However, in the past weeks, 11 people have lost their lives in shootings targeting civilians.

Moreover, in combing operations over the past nine days, 13 terrorists have been killed by the security forces.

According to data, more than 132 terrorists have been killed by the security forces in ‘Operation All Out’ since January. Another 254 terrorists have been arrested so far.

Terrorists shot dead two workers from Bihar and injured another after barging into their accommodation in Kulgam in south Kashmir on Sunday. This was the latest in the series of attacks on non-local migrants in Kashmir that have forced the police to bring all such workers to security camps.
