India batsman KL Rahul said that captain Virat Kohli is someone who “operates at 200”. Rahul said that Kohli lifts his team mates and gets them to work at a higher level.

“Playing with and under Virat Kohli, he is a different sort of captain. He is a very passionate individual. He operates at 200. 100 is the best you possibly can be at, but he operates at 200. He has the unbelievable ability to carry the other 10 guys and pull them from 100 to 200,” Rahul said in a video for Forbes India.

There have been questions raised on Kohli’s captaincy after India’s defeat to New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. It was the third time that India failed to win a major trophy under Kohli after the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup.

Rahul was part of the Indian setup that played in the WTC final. He was captain of one of two sides that played an intra-squad match ahead of the historic one-off Test, with the other team being led by Kohli himself.

The team is still in the United Kingdom as they gear up for their upcoming five-match Test series against England. It was confirmed on Friday that India will play a warm-up match before the series, which starts in Nottingham on August 4. They will be facing a ‘Select County XI’ in a three-day game in the third week of July.
