Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp commended Takumi Minamimo’s strength of character after the Japanese international scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Minamino returned to action after sustaining a thigh injury earlier this month and spending the last season on loan at Southampton.

The 26-year-old scored the game’s opening goal in the first four minutes and added a second to his tally in the 80th minute.

“Taki is in a really good moment. I know he didn’t play too much, but in the wrong moment, he was injured, coming and stuff like this,” Klopp said

Klopp made nine changes to his lineup, including teenagers Kaide Gordon and Conor Bradley, who made their senior debuts before being replaced by fellow academy player Tyler Morton at halftime.

The German manager also said he was impressed with Kaide Gordon who became Liverpool’s fifth-youngest debutant.

“There are a lot of things to settle and learn, but there are already a lot of things that are there,” Klopp remarked of Gordon’s performance.

“We’ll treat him carefully. I am really happy he is here, he is a big talent,” he added.
