Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, speaking on the security of her brother and party leader Rahul Gandhi, said she is not afraid for his life as he is protected by the “shield of truth”.

“People tell me to make him wear the jacket (due to heavy winters in north India). People ask me if I am not scared for my brother. My brother is protected by the shield of truth, god will protect him. Nothing will happen,” said the Congress leader.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is also the general secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh, was speaking at the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra that entered Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning.

The yatra resumed after a brief winter break before entering Uttar Pradesh via the Loni border in Ghaziabad.

Security of the Bharat Jodo Yatra has become a talking point of late. The concern mounts as the yatra is set to enter Jammu and Kashmir – which often sees encounters between terrorists and security forces – in the third week of this month.

On December 24, Congress leader KC Venugopal raised concerns regarding the yatra by writing to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Following this, Punjab’s top cop said that the yatris will get foolproof security in the state.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Raja Warring visited Rajpura, Ghanaur and Patiala this week to discuss the yatra details with local workers.
