The Rajasthan government has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the family of Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh, who died in the helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on December 8.

Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh was killed along with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and 11 others in the chopper crash. Kuldeep Singh was the co-pilot of the ill-fated chopper.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made the announcement on Tuesday.

Singh was a resident of Gadrana village in Jhunjhunu district.

Apart from Gen Rawat and Singh, the CDS’s wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lt Colonel H Singh, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, JWO Das, JWO Pradeep A, Havildar Satpal, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitender, Lance Naik Vivek and Lance Naik S Teja lost their lives in the crash.

IAF Group Captain Varun Singh, the sole survivor of the IAF chopper crash, is undergoing treatment at Command Hospital in Bengaluru.

CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika were cremated with full military honours at Delhi’s Brar Square crematorium on December 10. Their daughters, Kritika and Tarini, performed the final rites. Brigadier LS Lidder was also cremated earlier that day at the same crematorium.
