The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to provide houses on subsidies to lakhs of employees and advocates with low incomes. The nominal value of the land will be charged only Re 1 from the buyers of these houses. The discount will be given to the buyers on the condition that they will not be able to sell the house for the next 10 years.

Sources said the draft of the scheme was prepared during the meeting of higher officials. Now, the approval from higher authorities is needed, following which the draft will be passed by the cabinet. The benefits of this scheme will be available only after the proposal is passed by the cabinet, sources said.

So far, there has been no system of giving houses on discount to Group C and D employees, sources said.

Group C and D workers and advocates, who do not have much income, face difficulties getting a house. Taking note of this issue, this draft was prepared after deliberation on giving them houses on discount.

The process of giving the house was discussed during the preliminary round of talks. The eligibility criteria for this will be decided later.

Meanwhile, Justice for Advocates and Personnel Department has been made nodal for Group C and D personnel. According to the information, the Housing and Urban Planning Department will provide Nazul’s land on lease to the nodal departments.

The revenue department and other government lands will be made available to the nodal department under the rules of the concerned department on the basis of need.

The beneficiaries will be given subsidies on the houses constructed under this scheme.
