Xiaomi 12 Pro will be launched in India on April 27 as a competitor to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Xiaomi has been teasing the flagship phone for a while now and confirmed the launch date through social media posts on Tuesday afternoon. The phone has already been launched in China and will be the company’s most premium phone in India in 2022 so far. Even though the phone lacks the ‘Ultra’ tag, it will replace last year’s Mi 11 Ultra in Xiaomi’s flagship portfolio. “The flagship of the is coming home Xiaomi12Pro 5G is launching on 27.04.22!” Xiaomi India tweeted.

Xiaomi 12 Pro will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. This puts it in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, OnePlus 10 Pro and the more recently launched Realme GT 2 Pro. Xiaomi is expected to price the phone less than Samsung and OnePlus devices, at least. It will come with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone is expected to have a 6.73-inch QHD+ (1,440 x 3,200 pixel) AMOLED display with 1,500 nits of peak brightness. The panel should support a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz with a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz. Xiaomi will once again bet big on the camera system to heat up the competition in this segment. Xiaomi 12 Pro’s triple rear camera system is likely to include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 sensor with optical image stabilisation, coupled with a 50-megapixel portrait camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

The front camera will have a 32-megapixel sensor.

The new flagship phone from Xiaomi is likely to pack a 4,600 mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi has already used the 120W fast charging support on Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge and Xiaomi 11T Pro. The phone will support 5G, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

As of now, Xiaomi has only confirmed the 12 Pro launch but, it will be interesting to see if it introduces more than one phone on the same date or not.
