India recorded 67,208 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall coronavirus tally to 2,97,00,313, showed data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday morning.

Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the single-day spike in Covid-19 cases for the 35th consecutive day.

The top five states which have registered the maximum cases are Kerala with 13,270 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 10,448 cases, Maharashtra with 10,107 cases, Karnataka with 7,345 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 6,617 cases.

As many as 71.11 per cent of the new coronavirus cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 19.74 per cent of the new cases.

Also, Delhi reported 212 fresh Covid-19 cases and 25 fatalities on Wednesday, while the positivity rate dipped to 0.27 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.

With fresh cases, the active Covid-19 cases in the country have declined by 38,692 and now stands at 8,26,740 — the lowest after 71 days.

Meanwhile, 2,84,91,670 people infected with coronavirus have been cured and discharged so far, with 1,03,570 patients being recovered during the last 24 hours.

India’s recovery rate has now increased to 95.93 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is currently at 3.48 per cent — less than 5 per cent for 10 consecutive days.

Also, 2,330 more people succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide toll due to Covid-19 to 3,81,903.

Among fresh Covid-1 related deaths, the maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (1,236), followed by Tamil Nadu with 270 daily deaths.

India has administered a total of 34,63,961 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 26,55,19,251.

According to the data available by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), as many as 730 doctors have succumbed to coronavirus infection during the second wave.

Bihar saw the maximum number of 115 deaths, followed by Delhi at 109, Uttar Pradesh 79, West Bengal 62, Rajasthan 43, Jharkhand 39, and Andhra Pradesh 38, the data showed.
