iQOO has launched the iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro in China as its latest flagship smartphones. Successors to the iQOO 7 series introduced earlier this year, the two smartphones carry some upgrades over the previous generation and are set to go on sale in China later this month.

Some of the upgrades mentioned above include a Snapdragon 888 series processor on both the variants this time as well as new colour options for the devices. iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro also boast high refresh rate displays and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

Here is a look in detail at the new smartphones by iQOO.

iQOO 8, iQOO 8 Pro price and availability

iQOO has priced the new iQOO 8 at CNY 3,799 (~Rs 43,600) for the base variant which comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The step-up version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 4,199 (~Rs 48,200). The iQOO 8 will retail in China starting August 24 in a total of four colour variants — Black, White, Orange and a Legendary Edition with the BMW M Motorsport branding, as the one seen on the iQOO 7 Legend.

The flagship model, iQOO 8 Pro has been priced at CNY 4,999 (~Rs 57,300) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option. There are two other memory options, with one carrying 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and another carrying 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The models have been priced at CNY 5,499 (~Rs 63,100) and CNY 5,999 (~Rs 68,800) respectively.

iQOO 8 Pro will go on sale starting August 26 in China in two colour options — BMW M Motorsport Legendary Edition and a Black variant with a carbon-fibre-like finish.

Both phones are already up for pre-orders in China. iQOO is yet to announce availability for its international markets.

iQOO 8 specifications

iQOO 8 comes with a 6.56-inch full-HD+ (2,376 x 1,080 pixels) AMOLED display. The display boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, 19.8:9 aspect ratio, 92.76 screen-to-body ratio and a punch-hole selfie camera at the top. There is also an under-display fingerprint sensor.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and runs Android 11 with Origin OS 1.0 for iQOO on top. Memory options are as mentioned above.

As for optics, the iQOO 8 features a triple-lens camera setup at the back with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 13-megapixel portrait lens. At the front, there is a 16-megapixel lens for selfies.

The new iQOO smartphone is backed by a 4,350 mAh battery that comes with 120W fast charging support. Connectivity options on the smartphone include dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, GPS and a USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and an e-compass.
The device measures 159 x75 x 8.6 mm and weighs 199.9 grams.

iQOO 8 Pro specifications

The more premium model of the two, the iQOO 8 Pro sports a larger 6.78-inch (3,200 x 1,440 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio and 92.2 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The phone is backed by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset and an Adreno 660 GPU. It carries up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Optics on the iQOO 8 Pro model includes a triple-lens camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor with gimbal stabilisation, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 16-megapixel lens for portrait shots. At the front, the smartphone carries a 16-megapixel selfie shooter for selfies and video calls.

Connectivity options and sensors onboard the iQOO 8 Pro are the same as the iQOO 8. There is a larger 4,500 mAh battery backing the smartphone that comes with 120W fast charging (wired) and 50W fast wireless charging.

The iQOO 8 Pro measures 165 x 75 x 9 mm and weighs 202.5 grams.
