On  Tuesday  authorities said  aeroplane crashed and burst into flames . It was a Douglas – C 54 Skymaster carrying two people. No survivors were spotted. From Fairbanks International  Airport, the plane took off in the morning . As per Alaska State Troopers it crashed at 11 kilometers distance from their field s) from there and “slid into a steep hill on the bank of the river where it caught  fire.” Between the take off and the crash it’s unclear what happened said Clint Johnson , Chief of the National office. He only saw a large plume of smoke. Michaela Matherne said her small plane was diverted to verify the coordinates of the Crash Site. While she was flying from Village of Galena to Fairbanks to catch a flight to New Orleans.  The Associated Press via Facebook Messenger said “When we were in the air there was speculation that it was a cabin that caught fire, maybe a fish camp.” “We actually didn’t know what we were looking at until after we landed a few minutes later,” she said. “We were shocked and saddened to hear that.” Douglas DC – 4 was a world war 11 era airplane and C – 54 is a military version of the Douglas DC – 4. Passenger seating for a DC – 4  was 44 during it’s heyday as per the website www.airlines.net but most have been converted to freighters right now . The plane is described as Douglas C – 54 by The Federal Aviation Administration . But the troopers identified it as a DC – 4. Johnson said The NTSB was sending investigators to the site. The destination of the flight and it’s purpose is not available.
