Samsung has reportedly decided to abandon the Fan Edition model of the Galaxy S22 series. The South Korean tech giant wants to increase the production of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which has been doing well in terms of sales for the company in India and other markets.

The Elec reported that the Galaxy Fan Edition series has not been discontinued. The report stated that the chips allocated for the Galaxy S22 FE are now being made available for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Samsung’s first Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S20 FE, was quite popular and reportedly sold over 10 million units. The Galaxy S21 FE was hit by chip shortages, which delayed its launch. The S21 FE was launched only a month prior to the Galaxy S22 series earlier this year.

For the Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung aims to ship over three million units. In comparison, the company aims to ship 8.5 million Galaxy S23 units, 6.5 million S23 Plus units and 13 million Galaxy S23 Ultra units next year.

The company has, meanwhile, confirmed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Z Fold 4 on August 10. The two foldable phones will launch with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will feature a 7.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED foldable display and a 6.2-inch HD+ 120Hz OLED display.

The Z Flip 4 will have a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and a 2.1-inch cover screen. It will pack a 3700 mAh battery and support 25W fast charging. The Fold 4 will pack a bigger 4400 mAh battery and support 45W fast charging, 15W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Fold 4 will have a 50MP + 13MP + 12MP camera setup, whereas the Flip 4 will have a 12MP dual-camera setup.
