If you too have been eagerly waiting for an update on Karan Johar’s Takht that was announced in 2019, there is finally some good news. Karan, who is currently busy with Ranveer Singh-starrer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, recently opened up in an interview about his “passion project”, Takht.

KARAN JOHAR SAYS HE WILL GET ON TAKHT SOON

While Takht was announced in 2019, the film was all set to go on floors in early 2020. But due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the shooting was delayed. Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, Karan revealed that right after he gets done with Rocky Aur Rani he will concentrate on making Takht.

Karan said, “No, I am going to make that movie right after Rocky Aur Rani. I can’t let that get away. That film is a piece of my heart. It’s got two and a half years of prep work on it. We were rearing to go. I still remember we were starting on April 24 when the pandemic hit us in March. The film was so vast, voluminous and on a large scale, that on a daily basis, it needed a thousand people on set. It was that kind of film.”

KARAN OPENS UP ABOUT HIS PASSION PROJECT

Karan Johar described Takht as his passion project and it will be a family entertainer. He further said, “I will always say, Rocky Aur Rani is my exciting project, but Takht is my passion project. And you cannot run away from your passion. So right after I’m done with my excitement, I’ll head towards my passion.” When asked about his previous comment on comparing Takht with Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Karan called it ‘exactly like that, updated hopefully’.

Karan Johar’s Takht features Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.
