Six people died on Friday as a family of twelve drowned while taking a bath in the Saryu river in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. While six bodies were pulled out, and three people were rescued, three others are still missing.

Police and local divers are carrying on the search and rescue operation for the missing people.

Three people who have been rescued have been rushed to the local hospital.

The family of 15 hails from Agra and was visiting Ayodhya when this incident took place.

Some members were washing their hands and feet while others were taking a bath in the river when they started to drown due to high current in the water body. Other members tried to help and rescue them but were caught in the current as well, as per sources.

Anuj kumar Jha, District Magistrate of Ayodhya, said that rescue operations for others are still on.
